Risky Business ...
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to make any assumption on how much your web visitor knows of your business.
And with that in mind, it's important to have a clear statement that describes your core business services
and benefits right up front on the landing page. ...and while it sounds like the painfully obvious, you'll be surprised how many sites you visit where your left to 'look' for that answer. If your visitor doesn't quickly see how to get what their looking for they'll bounce.
In almost all cases..assume they know little of what your business is about and explain it. That doesn't mean
you necessarily have to 'dumb-down' your message or content, but it does mean you need to deliver a clear core
message in a tone and language that your intended audience would expect.
Factoid:
Research reveals that in order to communicate effectively with the average U.S. audience, writers need to write at a 6th-8th grade reading level.

Even those that have been customers for some time are often the unwitting culprits of dis-information as they describe your business from their own perspective. Your web site gives you the chance to clarify without compromise. It's a beautiful thing. ^^
